Batman Trumps Quaid In US Box Office

Initial figures indicate THE DARK KNIGHT RISES ($36.4m) has taken $10m more than new release TOTAL RECALL (2012) this weekend. Whilst $26m isn’t to be sniffed at, for a movie that apparently cost $120-170m, it’s a bit of a disaster for Sony. The remake only beat TOTAL RECALL (1990) by $500k – 22 years ago $25.5m was far more impressive, and I know what you’re thinking… someone gave Len Wiseman that much money?

Elsewhere DIARY OF A WIMPY KID 3 (what happened to number 2?) grossed a hugely respectable $14.7m in third and THE WATCH struggles into fifth with a pretty ghastly $6.35m edging it over $21m in total. Suddenly Richard Ayoade’s movie career doesn’t seem so bright.

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
