The plans for a DUMB AND DUMBER sequel have yet again taken a turn. Very few sequels have been talked about as much as the future DUMB AND DUMBER TO. Only weeks ago all the dreams of Harry and Lloyd in their top hats reuniting for another movie of accidentally solving crimes were shattered. Jim Carrey bowed out from the franchise after not being satisfied with the direction the movie was going in.
Jeff Daniels addressed the issue at the Television Critics Association panel for THE NEWSROOM. Daniels announced that there is still hope for the movie to be made, and that they are in fact getting closer to starting production on the already 18 years over due sequel. He confirmed:
‘Jim wants to do it. I want to do it. The Farrellys want to do it. They want to rewrite the script a little bit and they aren’t trying to jam it in before I have to go back and do ‘Newsroom’ in November. So they’re going, ‘Why don’t we just do it right? Let’s get everybody organized to go next May or June.’ If everything works out on the business side, that’s what we’ll do but I think there’s more hope than ever.’
I’ve never been a fan of sequels, and although I can’t for the life of me figure out if this is a good idea or not, and what the film possibly would be about, I can’t help myself get really excited about seeing Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reunited. I don’t care what they wear, what they say, or who’s bag they find I need to see the Harry and Lloyd back on the big screen. Now, when will we see a third BILL AND TED movie?
