Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Bullet To The Head’ First Trailer

Sylvester Stallone is not one to be outdone by his aging action counterpart Arnold Schwarzenegger, so as we showed the latter’s next solo effort here (LAST STAND trailer) now we can have a first look at BULLET TO THE HEAD. A cop and a hitman team up after both of their partners are killed. The film is directed by Walter Hill, who may not have directed in the last 10 years but he has some  comedy and action greats under his belt such as 48 HOURS (1982), LAST MAN STANDING (1996), RED HEAT (1988) and THE WARRIORS (1978).

The trailer does seem to hint at a number of genres with a clear buddy cop comedy feel, ferocious action scenes, and an axe fight. This may have that 1980s charm we’ve all been looking for, but the jokes are extremely tired and are based around the fact that the hitman is old and the cop is Asian. Thomas Jane was originally in the role now inhabited by Sung Kang, but was reportedly fired because Joel Silver wanted someone more ethnic. That’s a damn shame, especially since Sung Kang doesn’t exactly sizzle in the trailer. I don’t buy him as an action star or a cop, nor do I find his comedic timing to be very funny. This will still hopefully be one to watch but with Schwarzenegger’s THE LAST STAND and the Schwarzenegger/Stallone team up in THE TOMB, this is at the bottom of my list.

BULLET IN THE HEAD will be released 1st February 2013. It stars Sylvester Stallone, Sung Kang, Christian Slater, Jason Momoa, and Sarah Shahi.
