Aren’t fans great? They so often come up with new and innovative ways to promote products they have no financial stake in. Here we have a trailer for the upcoming Rian Johnson film LOOPER. However, this is done in the style of an old console video game. The graphics and the sound are perfect, not to mention the lengthy intros explaining the story. The video was created by someone by the name of Deepak Chetty who explains:
Made this while waiting for other renders to go through… Hopefully this is a start of a series of cinema games that never existed.
I’m certainly game for more if he makes them. Would love to see a 16-bit version of MULHOLLAND DRIVE, it’s the game my SNES has been missing all along. Chetty not only makes some great graphics, but the humour is great, with needlessly complex opening controls and the illusion that the game is open-ended. More games should be advertised like this, it tells what the film is about without ruining any of the film with actual footage.
LOOPER is released 28th September 2012. It stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Jeff Daniels, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Piper Perabo.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
