Lionsgate and Roadside Attraction must have been very impressed by the quality of films at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, as they made their 4th joint acquisition over the weekend. They’ve decided to pick up the rights to EMPEROR starring Matthew Fox and Tommy Lee Jones as two generals appointed the difficult task of leading an investigation into whether or not the Japanese Emperor Hirohito should be charged with war crimes. The other four acquisitions made by the joint partnership are THANKS FOR SHARING, IMOGENE, and Joss Whedon’s MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. EMPEROR will be directed by Peter Webber who has had mixed success with his two previous feature length films THE GIRL WITH THE PEARL EARRING (2003) and HANNIBAL RISING (2007).

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
