Rupert Wyatt Set To Leave ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’ For Someone Else

It appears the director of last years surprisingly superb RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES will now vacate the sequel. DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES would have seen Rupert Wyatt once again behind the camera after earlier in the year signing on alongside the returning Andy Serkis as mo-capped chief chimp Caesar. Wyatt is said to be unhappy at having to rush development in order to meet the already announced release of 22nd May 2014. The recent departure of notorious Fox studio head Tom Rothman could also have been a factor.

20th Century Fox have yet to confirm Wyatt is leaving the project but word is he’s no longer interested in the moving forward with the follow-up. This will now leave him free to develop both AGENT 13, an action-thriller headlined by Charlize Theron, as well as the real-life controversial case of Alexander Litvenenko, the former Russian KGB agent poisoned in mysterious circumstances on UK soil. LONDONGRAD is set to star Michael Fassbender as the fatally-doomed lead character.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
