We’ve just been handed the announcement for the release of Eran Creery’s crime-thriller WELCOME TO THE PUNCH, a hard-boiled tale of obsessed London detective Max Lewinsky, who finds career criminal Jacob Sternwood is headed back to London. This gives Max the opportunity to finally catch the ruthless crook who slipped his grasp after a number of previous notorious crimes. MARK STRONG AND JAMES McAVOY GO HEAD-TO-HEAD IN LONDON THRILLER
24th September 2012, London, UK – Eran Creevy’s Welcome To The Punch, starring James McAvoy, Mark Strong, Andrea Riseborough, Peter Mullan, David Morrissey, Johnny Harris and Daniel Mays will be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 15 March by Momentum Pictures, an Alliance Films company.
Welcome To The Punch finds ex-criminal Jacob Sternwood (Strong) forced to return to London when his son is involved in a heist gone wrong. This gives his nemesis, detective Max Lewinsky (McAvoy), one last chance to catch the man he’s always been after. As the two enemies hurtle towards an unavoidable face off, they start to uncover a deeper conspiracy they both need to solve in order to survive.
Written and directed by London born film maker, Eran Creevy, Welcome to the Punch was filmed across the capital and was given unprecedented access to Canary Wharf.
The film was produced by Rory Aitken, Ben Pugh and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, President of Automatik with Ridley Scott and Liza Marshall as executive producers for Scott Free London. Momentum Pictures’ Xavier Marchand, IM Global CEO Stuart Ford, Christopher Woodrow and Molly Conners at Worldview Entertainment also executive produced. Worldview Entertainment, Quickfire Films, the BFI’s Film Fund and Automatik have co-financed.
