It’s ‘Peanuts’ As Charlie Brown & Friends Get Animated For The Big-Screen!

As a project that is perhaps long overdue, we’re happy to confirm that the hilarious and charming PEANUTS comic-strip (featuring young Charlie Brown, pet pooch Snoopy and their loveable neighbourhood friends) will finally get the big-screen treatment it deserves. The beloved cartoon characters created by Charles Schultz are being adapted by Schultz’s son Craig and grandson Bryan. The family will work alongside Fox Animation, who are collaborating with Blue Sky Studios to release the animated feature on 25th November 2015, the 65th Anniversary of the world famous creation.

The PEANUTS gang have been adapted numerous times for television specials, with the likes of classic festive favourite A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS (1965) particularly popular with fans. Thankfully, it’s expected the film will not undergo any sort of CGI/live-action upgrade, like GARFIELD, THE SMURFS and ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS have so far taken. We’ll keep you updated as the project develops, which is looking to HORTON HEARS A WHO director Steve Martino to helm.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
