First Trailer For ‘Safe Haven’ Latest Nicholas Sparks Adaptation

I’ve only has the pleasure of viewing one adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel, and that was 2002’s A WALK TO REMEMBER. He’s become a sure thing in terms of Hollywood with films based on his books including THE NOTEBOOK, THE LUCKY ONE, and DEAR JOHN. His stories usually centre around a troubled romance and somebody dying. Based on the trailers alone, all films based on his work are filled with corny, forced dialogue, and the kind of sentimental pap that induces fits of vomiting. SAFE HAVEN looks no different as we see a young woman on the run from a troubled past end up in a small town. There’s a widower she falls for, but doesn’t feel as though she can get involved. Master adapter of novels, Lasse Halstrom, is in the director’s chair. He is responsible for bringing books such as SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN, CHOCOLAT, DEAR JOHN, and THE CIDER HOUSE RULES, to the big screen.

SAFE HAVEN is set for release 8th February 2013 in the US. It stars Josh Duhamel, Julianne Hough, Cobie Smulders, David Lyons, and Ric Reitz.
