SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is creating a lot of awards buzz, coming out of a strong opening performance at the Toronto Film Festival. Now the first TV spot has arrived as we’re heading towards its general release. The synopsis for the film goes as follows:
Pat Solatano has lost everything — his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother and father after spending eight months is a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat’s parents want is for him to get back on his feet – and to share their family’s obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. When Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he’ll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives.
Having been lucky enough to see it a week ago, I can’t recommend the film highly enough. I reckon it could be an outside contender for awards, and it wouldn’t be undeserved either. Oh, and Chris Tucker’s voice sounds almost normal throughout the entire film (it’s a delight). Check out the TV spot below.
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is directed by David O. Russell. It stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Jackie Weaver and Chris Tucker. It will hit UK cinemas on 21st November 2012.
