With Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots already attached, NEED FOR SPEED looks to go a slightly different route than its spiritual predecessor, THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, and actually get some decent young actors on board. The latest to sign up (or at least be close to) for the video game adaptation is Dominic Cooper (THE DEVIL’S DOUBLE, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER) who will play the second male lead as ‘a character named Dino, an ex-NASCAR driver who uses his connections to the wealthy to create a business rebuilding and modifying supercars’. So far, I think they’ve been smart when it comes to casting and I’m sure this film will be a hit with the same crowd that laps up FAST AND FURIOUS sequels. It doesn’t sound like my cup of tea, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t be an entertaining night out.
NEED FOR SPEED will be directed by Scott Waugh. It will star Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots. It is scheduled to arrive in US cinemas on 7th February 2014 and in UK cinemas around the same time.
