The Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz starrer KNIGHT and DAY is released on UK DVD and Blu-Ray on December 13. I have not actually managed to catch the flick as yet, but am looking forward to reviewing the release for the site later this week.
Tom Cruise is back to the action-comedy that he does best in Knight and Day and back together with Cameron Diaz, as the unlikely couple Roy Miller and June Havens, who get caught up together in a wild goose chase that spans the globe.
To celebrate the release of Knight and Day on Blu-ray and DVD on 13th December, we take a look at the great chemistry between unusual couples, in some of film’s best on-screen couples.
Titanic (1997)
The James Cameron epic is remembered for many things, but chief among them is the dramatic love story of Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet). As the giant ship takes on water the one thing that refuses to break is the eternal bond between these two characters, who continue to hold on even when all hope seems lost.
Bonnie and Clyde (1967)
What’s more romantic than robbing banks throughout the Mid-West at gunpoint? For Clyde Barrow (Warren Beatty) and Bonnie Parker (Faye Dunaway), just about nothing. The notorious bank-robbing couple terrorized small town America during the Great Depression, and fell in love in the process. Sounds like a happy honeymoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005)
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie star opposite each other in this action thriller. The real-life couple plays two professional assassins hired to kill each other. But their love for each other prevents them from going through with it (though they tried). Instead, they team up against a common enemy and fall for each other all over again amidst a hail of bullets and non-stop explosions.
The Matrix (1999)
Even the One needs someone to love. Carrie-Anne Moss plays Trinity, a leather-wearing, ass-kicking diva who also happens to be in love with Keanu Reeves’ character, Neo. Their blossoming relationship pushes them to new limits as they fight alongside each other in an epic war against the machines.
The African Queen (1951)
This John Huston classic stars Humphrey Bogart as a drunk steamboat captain sailing the waters by the colony of German East Africa in 1914. Katherine Hepburn plays Rose Sayer, a missionary’s sister determined to help out the British war effort against Germany. The two struggle to get along but eventually fall for each other, teaming up to try to take down a German warship.
True Romance (1993)
Christian Slater plays Clarence Worley in this early Quentin Tarantino film. Worley marries a prostitute, Patricia Arquette, and the two receive an unexpected and unwelcome wedding present. The two must go on the run from a mob of very angry gangsters, futilely attempting to keep their hands off each other along the way.
