Burton Denies “Wonderland” Sequel

Tim Burton has said a straight out no to there being an ALICE IN WONDERLAND sequel, despite the movie being left with a wide open ending just ripe for the franchise picking, and despite it grossing a pretty incredible $1 billion. He told MTV:

“That’s what the material does, it leaves it open for you, […] it’s kind of like dreams. It leaves it open, as it should, for interpretation.”

However, Disney hasn’t yet even considered asking Burton for a sequel, which he agrees is wise, “that was smart of them. They saw that it was kind of its own thing. They didn’t push for it at all, which I thought was really amazing, and smart, and right.”
