Jason Flemyng May Have Revealed ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Director

When the acquisition of LucasFilm by Disney was announced, along with the news of 3 STAR WARS sequels in the works, everyone was surprised. Mostly because the news had been kept so hush, hush. When you consider how many people are involved in the production of a film, someone is bound to let something slip. That someone this time around may be, the always lovely, Jason Flemyng. In an interview with Flemyng at the premiere for SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS, Flemyng was asked if Matthew Vaughn had discussed STAR WARS with him, and when asked “So he IS interested then?” Flemyng had a genuine look of “OH BUGGER! I’ve let something slip.”

Having worked on 9 films together, if anyone were aware of Vaughn’s involvement in STAR WARS EPISODE VII it is bound to be Flemyng. Vaughn has been rumoured for quite some time having left X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, a film that Flemyng is also returning to. You can check out the video of Flemyng’s interview below, courtesy of Hey U Guys. For STAR WARS talk you can skip straight to 1:11, but Flemyng is such a sweet guy we suggest you watch it all.

This is really exciting news if it turns out to be true, as Vaughn is a very talented director who has handled a number of different genres. I can also easily see Flemyng as a Sith Lord, so why not give him a part?

STAR WARS EPISODE VII is set for release in 2015. The cast of the original trilogy have expressed interest in returning, and Michael Arndt is set to write.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
