Everyone knows that I have my own theory on what ties THE DARK KNIGHT RISES to MAN OF STEEL and then both to the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA movie (if you want to know what that is, then listen to our podcast – I mention it with Fordy most weeks). I’m probably completely wrong, but I will drone on about it right up until the release date of Zack Snyder’s Superman movie next summer. It will go on and on.
Anyway, MAN OF STEEL’s producer, one Christopher Nolan, has finally broken his silence about the tone of the movie, and whether it will be at all like his Batman series.
He spoke to The Playlist.
“I wouldn’t want people to think we’re doing for Superman what we did for Batman.
He adds. “It’s very much Zack’s film and I think people are going to love what he’s done. I think it’s really remarkable to take on that character. Superman is a completely different character than Batman. So you can’t in anyway use the same template. But David Goyer had this, I thought, brilliant way to make Superman relatable and relevant for his audience. Zack has built on that and I think it’s incredible what he’s putting together. He’s got a lot of finishing to do on that. Superman is the biggest comic book character of them all and he needs the biggest possible movie version which is what Zack’s doing. It’s really something.”
Snyder is a bit of a hit and miss kind of guy, and for every DAWN OF THE DEAD and WATCHMEN, there’s a SUCKER PUNCH and a LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS.
MAN OF STEEL opens on 14th June 2013.
