Star Trek Into Darkness Teaser Will Make You Cumberbatch Everywhere!

The first teaser trailer for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS has arrived. And it’s a goodie.

There has been much fanboy/girl-ing over the casting of Benedict Cumberbatch (SHERLOCK, THE HOBBIT) as the sci-fi sequel’s antagonist and Paramount are clearly keen to capitalise on that interest, because this is a Cumberbatch heavy promo. He cranks up the gravel to somewhere between Alec Baldwin and Batman for a ferocious looking bad guy who looks set rip Kirk’s world apart. We get glimpses of the crew doing some fighting and some worrying, Alice Eve (who co-starred with Cumberbatch in STARTER FOR TEN and Simon Pegg in BIG NOTHING), a sprinting Spock, a Nolan/Zimmer-esque pounding orchestral score and *SPOILER* what looks a lot like a crashing Enterprise, which will get viewers raising their eyebrows (Vulcan-style) with intrigue. Trekkie or not, it’s hard not to get excited about this.

And that Benedict, he may well steal the show. Whether he is Khan or Gary Mitchell, he is most certainly badass.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS is directed by JJ Abrams and stars Chris Pine, Zachery Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Simon Pegg all returning as the crew of The Enterprise with new-comers Alice Eve, Noel Clarke and of course, Benedict Cumberbatch.

It will be transporting into UK and US cinemas 17th May 2013.
