Place Your Bets! UK Bookies Offer Interesting Odds On 2013 Oscars

oscars

I’ve just received an interesting email from UK bookmakers Paddy Power, who are already offering odds on who will win what at next year’s Academy Awards in February. This is quite interesting considering that the nominations are still yet to be announced. What’s also interesting is that Steven Spielberg’s LINCOLN is the hot favourite with the guys at PP, with the film 5/4 to take Best Picture, 2/7 on to take Best Actor for Daniel Day Lewis and  13/10 for Spielberg to be awarded the Best Director gong for the same film Now, I haven’t seen LINCOLN, so I couldn’t possibly comment o the quality of the film, and while I hear good things, there is some pretty strong competition out there this year (eg. ARGO, ZERO DARK THIRTY etc.)

The bookmakers also list Jennifer Lawrence as the sure thing for Best Actress for SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, but there’s no mention for her co-star in the film, Bradley Cooper for Best Actor. They do mention Daniel Craig (I believe for SKYFALL), at a 100/1 bet. Worth a couple of quid right? Not that I condone gambling.

Take a look at the four categories below, and the fifth for odds on the Top Grossing Movie Of 2013. Top of that list? THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG at 2/5 (meaning you have to put 5 pounds on to get two pounds back), compared to 9/4 for MAN OF STEEL. Hmmm.

5/4 Lincoln
2/1 Les Miserables
3/1 Zero Dark Thirty
9/2 Argo
14/1 Silver Linings Playbook
