One of the immeasurable pleasures of THE AVENGERS was Tom Hiddleston’s performance as the villain, Loki. Having played Loki in THOR, THE AVENGERS and the upcoming THOR: THE DARK WORLD, Hiddleston is now being questioned about his possible role for THE AVENGERS 2. However, it sounds as though Loki will be handing over villain duties for the film set for release in 2015.
I don’t know, and that really is the honest answer. I know I’ve been known for obfuscation in other quarters, but I have no idea, I haven’t spoken to Joss. He’s definitely doing it. So I suspect not, only because I think that probably the audiences are tired of Loki being the bad guy. Maybe the Avengers need somebody else to fight. But I’d love to be part of it again.
As much as I love Loki, he has been the bad guy twice already, and after the pounding Hulk gave to him I think we need someone a bit more powerful to give earth’s mightiest heroes a run for their money. Thanos is pretty much confirmed as the next big villain after his mid-credits appearance in THE AVENGERS, but will he appear sooner in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY? We’ll still see plenty of Loki this November 2013 as he returns in THOR: THE DARK WORLD.
