Jonathan Burton Gives BAFTA Best Picture Nominees Some Striking Programme Covers

If there’s one thing that truly amazes me, it’s how the art of the film poster has given way to crappy Photoshop collages that anyone with a passing knowledge of the software could stick together. There are so many examples of dreaded movie poster cliches, and yet so many struggling artists with a genuine voice and individuality that could grab people’s attention. Artist Jonathan Burton is one of those artists, but luckily he has been asked by BAFTA to create these five pictures that will grace the programmes on the night of the award ceremony, one for each of the Best Picture Nominees. LINCOLN, LES MISERABLES, LIFE OF PI, ARGO, and ZERO DARK THIRTY all have their own poster below. More of this kind of work is very much welcome, and I hope they put these on sale as I need a LIFE OF PI one.

The BAFTAS takes place on 10th February.
