Mark Pellington directing Orphanage remake

A director for the remake of THE ORPHANAGE has been found. Mark Pellington, who directed that movie ARLINGTON ROAD, will take the helm of the flick, which is based on the original, which was directed by Juan Antonio Bayona. Guillermo del Toro, who was creative supervisor on the original 2007 movie, will produce the Hollywood remake, according to Variety.

The original Spanish film was based around a woman who takes over the orphanage where she was raised, to open a home for disabled children. Then her young son begins to play with the same imaginary friend who terrorized her when she was a child.

Guillermo is a busy boy as next year he is setting off to direct the two HOBBIT movies fro New Line, who are also behind THE ORPHANAGE remake.
