With STOKER out this Friday (check out our review here), it wont be long until we’re awaiting the English language debut of another Korean master, Bong Joon Ho. His film, SNOWPIERCER seems to be the bigest and most ambitious, but also the most secretive. Information has been sparse, and has generally raised more questions than it has answered. Now we have a still of Tilda Swinton’s character looking like a cross-between Aang from AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER and Hugh Jackman in the futuristic scenes of THE FOUNTAIN.
SNOWPIERCER sees humanity confined to a train that never stops as it plows through a new ice-age. Only problem is, the train is split according to class and the lower classes are getting a bit annoyed at the way they are treated. Based on a French graphic novel by Benjamin Legrand and Jacques Lob, this is bound to be one of the most interesting and memorable films of the year.
SNOWPIERCER is yet to receive a release date, but should be approaching around summer. It stars Chris Evans, Song Kang Ho, Octavia Spencer, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris, John Hurt, Ewen Bremner, and Alison Pill.
