Trailer For Disney’s ‘Cars’ Spin-Off ‘Planes’

It’s the spin-off nobody asked for to the franchise nobody liked. PLANES sees a world inhabited by, yes, planes. It also sees Disney taking the franchise into their own hands as Pixar have no involvement in the development of this film. PLANES was originally supposed to be a direct-to-DVD title, but it’s getting a theatrical release because, well, it just is. Let’s not kid ourselves, this is completely motivated by money and franchising. Whether you’ve noticed it or not, kids around the world love CARS merchandise, and PLANES is sure to be slapped across a number of lunchboxes and pencil cases in the future.

It may not be all bad. After all, there’s a strong TOP GUN vibe to the opening of this trailer. And TOP GUN = Awesomeness! However then we take a look at the plot, which sees a plane called Dusty afraid of heights. Can you imagine?

PLANES is released in the US on the 9th August and in the UK on the 16th August.
