Wolverine 2 JAPAN

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE was just awful, just plain God awful and the prospect of a sequel just hurt my soul. That is until earlier in the week the rumours concerning Darren Aronofsky directing the flick coming true. Aronofsky is a tremendous filmmaking talent and will bring a great feeling and energy to the film. It will also reunite the director with Jackman last seen together in the much under appreciated THE FOUNTAIN.

It had already been alluded too that WOLVERING 2 would be set in Japan and most likely confine itself to the first Wolverine comic book run by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. A couple of days ago it leaked online about certain characters featuring in the new production including Zen, someone that gets Logan out of a Canadian prison, Silver Samurai, a long time Wolverine enemy that’s a part of the Yakuza, Shingen, the head of the Hand which people might remember from the terrible ELEKTRA film. Also included is Mariko the long time love interest and eventual wife of Wolverine and Shingen’s daughter (add cinematic tension here).

It isn’t confirmed but you can expect some famous Japanese orientated Marvel comics characters such as Viper, someone else that marries Wolverine, Yukio and Lady Deathstrike even though she has kinda already been in X-MEN 2. And of course we can’t leave out the rumour of Frank Sinatra’s appearance…. no it will not be a form of digital resurrection but a Japanese character obsessed with the crooner.

All in all Fox are taking a strange, but good, turn in the creative direction of WOLVERINE with surprising hires like the director and nearly an all star Asian cast. Even though Fox has a nack for screwing things up I am very excited about the possibility of seeing a great character like Wolverine having the best period in his comic life on the big screen.

WOLVERINE 2 starts filming the beginning of 2011

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
