Award-winning TV chat show host Jonathan Ross will quiz Hollywood action hero movie legend Sylvester Stallone live on stage during An Evening with Sylvester Stallone at the London Palladium, this coming Saturday night, 11th January.
Mr Stallone, the star, writer, producer and director of almost 90 movies and the only actor in history to open a number one film across five decades, has promised to get up close and personal with his UK?fans, sharing private moments and unique insights from his long career, from the breakthrough Rocky to his latest blockuster movie franchise, THE EXPENDABLES.
“There is this unwritten law that a hero must be silent, like Gary Cooper. I have been fighting this for 30 years. Now is my chance.” Stallone told the Sunday Express, referring as to why he is risking his reputation with a one man show at the London Palladium on Saturday, and why he is not going to lie to the audience’s questions (or on stage interviewer Jonathan Ross).
“What I am looking for now is for people to start seeing another side of me and what I want to start doing is a lot of seminars, like the one at the London Palladium,” he says.
“I love to tell stories. It is that drive that made me go behind the curtain, behind the scenes, to see how things are accomplished, watching from both sides of the biggest box office hits. I am a people person and I am really very open. I really like the idea of letting the audience ask questions, to give them that opportunity and to give very specific answers. I like the idea of talking about your life, the journey that made you what you are. I think a lot of people may identify with this and think: ‘Wow, he did it, why can’t I?’”
An Evening with Sylvester Stallone is produced by Rocco Buonvino and Joe Ricotta. In June 2013, Mr Buonvino also presented the sold-out, acclaimed An Evening with Al Pacino at the London Palladium.
Sylvester Stallone has established worldwide recognition as an actor, writer and director since he played the title role in his own screenplay of ROCKY, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. ROCKY grew to a franchise of five sequels and in 2006 concluded with ROCKY BALBOA, a critical and audience success which resolutely confirmed both Stallone and ROCKY as iconic cultural symbols. In more recent times, Stallone wrote, directed and starred in RAMBO, which continued the saga of Vietnam vet John Rambo 25 years after the debut of RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD. His most ambitious project, the action thriller THE EXPENDABLES, which he wrote, directed and starred in, saw him hire an all star action cast including Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Eric Roberts, Dolph Lungren and Steve Austin – as well as Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
On January 24th, he will be seen starring in GRUDGE MATCH, co-starring with Robert DeNiro. Most recently he was on location in Bulgaria shooting EXPENDABLES 3 with many of the original cast as well as with Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford and Antonio Bandaras. In March, 2014, Rocky the Musical will open at The Winter Garden on Broadway. The musical is based on the original film written by Stallone with music by Stephen Flaherty and Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime).
