HUNGER GAMES stars Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson will be swapping District 12 for the American frontier in new revenge western, BY WAY OF HELENA.
The film follows 1880s Texan Ranger, David (Hemsworth) who rides out to investigate a series of murders in an isolated frontier town. However, it looks like local zealous preacher Abraham (Harrelson) is mighty suspicious of strange folk…
It sounds like fairly standard genre fodder, but Harrelson should be excellent (I can already hear his drawl) and if we’ve got a dodgy preacher, then hopefully we’ll have some of the moral ambiguity of revisionist westerns like Clint Eastwood’s brilliant UNFORGIVEN.
The script is penned by Matt Cook, while Aussie actor and film-maker Kieran Darcy-Smith (THE CAVE, ANIMAL KINGDOM) will direct.

It will be filmed in Mississippi at Florewood State Park in Greenwood, according to an article in The Greenwood Commonwealth.
