Jared Leto is in early talks to join Tron 3!

Outsider movie

Jared Leto is in early talks to join the third film in the Tron series. We were only talking about plans for Tron 3 earlier this week, and now, not only does it look like the film is happening, but it’s getting a pretty awesome early cast member.

The news travels from The Hollywood Reporter, who state that the film is in very early stages of development, and Leto is in very, very early talks to lead the cast. There isn’t even a writer hired for the project as yet, but Joseph Kosinski, who directed Tron: Legacy may possibly be back to direct (that is completely unconfirmed as yet though).

The trade says that the new project is not a direct sequel and is being built out of the source code of the deleted Tron 3 script. Leto would play a character named Ares, who has not appeared on screen before but was a key player in that script.

Tron: Legacy was released in 2010 and took a whopping $400 million at the global box-office. More news as it comes our way.
