Netflix has released the first trailer for Greta Gerwig’s The Magician Nephew, the new epic adaptation of the novel from C.S. Lewis which is heading to cinemas in February (including IMAX) before a Netflix release in April 2027.
Daniel Craig, David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell, Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan and Ciarán Hinds lead the cast of the new film, which is based on the 1955 novel. It is the sixth book in publication order in ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’, but chronologically it is the first, telling the story of how Narnia came into existence.
The film follows two children, Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, who discover a way to travel between different worlds using magical rings created by Digory’s uncle, Andrew Ketterley. Their journey takes them to the mysterious Wood Between the Worlds and the ruined kingdom of Charn, where they encounter Jadis, the woman who will become the White Witch. Their adventures eventually lead them to witness the extraordinary creation of Narnia by Aslan, the great lion. The story serves as a prequel to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, exploring the origins of the fantasy universe and the beginnings of the conflict that will threaten it.
The film will be released in cinemas on 12th February with a Netflix release set for 8th April.
