Steven Spielberg’s 2001 sci-fi ‘A.I. Artificial Intelligence’ to get 4K SteelBook release

Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence is heading to 4K SteelBook just in time for Christmas. The 2001 sci-fi epic will be released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment for the first time in the UK on 4K UHD Blu-ray and SteelBook on December 14, 2026, so says an official press release.

In the not-so-distant future, David, a robot with actual human feelings, especially a never-ending love for his “mother,” Monica, is adopted as a substitute for her real son, who, afflicted with an incurable disease, remains in “cryo-stasis.” David lives happily with Monica and her husband, but when the couple’s real son returns home after being cured, David’s life changes dramatically.

Stanley Kubrick, fascinated with the burgeoning technology of artificial intelligence, which he had already explored in his film 2001: A Space Odyssey, had been developing the project for years, and Spielberg took the reins after Kubrick’s death in 1999.

The film, released in 2001, grossed approximately $235.9 million worldwide at the global box office from a reported $100 million budget.

The A.I Artificial Intelligence Blu-ray Disc contains the following special features:

  • Trailer, storyboards, drawings, and hundreds of photos and more!
  • Documentary on bringing A.I. to the screen
  • Interviews with Steven Spielberg, Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law
  • Behind-the-Scenes featurettes on the making of A.I.
  • Interview with Sound Designer Gary Rydstrom at Skywalker Ranch
  • Visit to Stan Winston’s Studios with early “Teddy” footage
  • Interviews with Lucasfilm’s ILM special effects group
