The sequel to Wonka is reportedly set to start filming this summer, so says various reports online. The Wonka 2 movie, which will once again see Timothée Chalamet in the title role, is said to be going before the cameras in August.

Paul King, who aced it with the first two Paddington movies, is also set to return as director. Scooper DanielRPK (via Dark Horizons) is the source of the rumblings that we might see a new adventure for the chocolatier, the follow-up to a film that was a huge hit for Warner Bros. back in 2023.

The first Wonka film opened to strong box office and pretty decent reviews. It made a whopping $634m worldwide from a reported budget of $125 million. The film is a prequel to Roald Dahl’s iconic book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, which has been adapted into a movie a couple of times before – back in the 1970s as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder in the Wonka role, and then Tim Burton’s noughties version with Johnny Depp. No mention of where a Wonka 2 film would go in terms of narrative, but there is a brief description up on IMDB that reads: In 19th-century England, a young Willy Wonka ventures from his drab town to a whimsical candy factory, where his eye for wonder leads him on an enchanting adventure.

WB have not confirmed the rumours of that summer start date, but we’ll keep you updated on any further Wonka 2 movie rumblings as they head our way.
