New trailer for animated feature ‘Tangles’ from director Leah Nelson, and adapted from Sarah Leavitt’s graphic memoir

The latest trailer for the animated feature Tangles just dropped; the film was directed and co-written by Leah Nelson. Sarah Leavitt and Trev Renney also have writing credits for Tangles, which is adapted from Leavitt’s graphic memoir of the same name about a family coping with a mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Abbi Jacobson, Bryan Cranston, Beanie Feldstein, Seth Rogen, Samira Wiley, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes, Bowen Yang, Pamela Adlon and Fern Grandin lead the voice cast for the film which is set for release in an awards-quliafying run next month before expanding to other cinemas stateside in January.

As Sarah (Jacobson) finds love and independence in 1990s San Francisco, a visit home reunites her with her vibrant mother Midge (Louis-Dreyfus) and the wonderfully imperfect family that shaped her. When Midge is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Sarah discovers that while family is never simple, the ties that bind us — through laughter, heartbreak and joy — endure even as memories begin to fade.

The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), among others.

The limited US theatrical release is on 27 November 2026, followed by a wider release in early 2027. No UK dates available as yet, though.
