It looks like ‘Sicario 3’ is officially a go… maybe? A report over at Deadline says that Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin are all set to return for a second sequel. The trade says that a new movie is on the way with Steven Knight penning the movie and Black Label Media and Thunder Road behind the new feature.
Taylor Sheridan created the original Sicario movie in 2015, which Denis Villeneuve directed. Sicario: Day of the Soldado, released in 2018, brought back del Toro and Brolin with Stefan Soldado helming. A third film would see Padraic McKinley, director of The Weight, which opened just this weekend, directing. Deadline says that he is working with Knight on the script with notes from the three stars.
This is great news. The first two films are solid thrillers and I can’t wait to see which direction a new instalment would take.
