A simple headline, but big news in that Jonathan Glazer is reportedly putting pen to paper to write a new movie, his first since The Zone of Interest back in 2023.
Various outlets are reporting it, including World of Reel and Coming Soon, which both refer to a Q+A the filmmaker took part in at the New York Film Festival. The panel was for his documentary project, Joy of Joys, which is about HELP(2), a charity album created by the War Child organisation.
The new project would be the filmmaker’s fifth narrative feature in over 25 years, his debut being the brilliant British crime movie Sexy Beast.
The Zone of Interest was a huge awards winner – it bagged Best International Feature at the Academy Awards, and also won the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film and Film Not in the English Language. Before that, it won the Grand Prix, the Cannes Film Festival’s second-highest prize.
